HAWAIIAN CRUISE

We had a wonderful trip. 15 days sounds like a long time but we had so much fun on the ship. They keep you entertained. Each day at the theater was a current movie. They ran it 3 times a day. There was always a Variety show and that was at 7pm or 9pm. They had wonderful entertainers. All the shows were Great. They also had crafts for us to do. Ukulele lessons, Hula lessons lei making, origami just to name a few. By the time we got to our room we were exhausted. Did I say you could eat all the time. If you haven't  been on a cruise well you are missing a fun time. It is a wonderful bargain. We were treated like royalty in the dining room. Prime rib, lobster and wonderful desserts. The only complaint was we didn't have a lot of time one each island. I would suggest that you go with friends. It is fun to share the adventures.

We sailed on Celebrity and the ship was called Century. This is a view of our ship from one of the islands. On two islands we had to tender. That means they anchor and you take a tender boat to the dock. Not a lot of fun since you might have to wait for the tenders to arrive and depart. Lets face it we don't like to wait for anything!!!

We are ready to go again so anyone want to travel with us??
On our way to a wonderful adventure. Next to David is Shar, Bob and Jim. They live on our street in Viewpoint and are great friends. Shar and Bob live in Marshalltown, Iowa and Jim lives in Bottineau, North Dakota. We will visit Shar and Bob when we are in Iowa and hopefully Jim will come for a visit. They are Dianne's card buddies.

ROMANCE IN THE TROPICS

Beautiful Beach on the south shore.

Blow Hole along south shore drive

We arrived in Maui and rented a car.  We wanted to see Haleakala Crater National Park.  Our traveling companions opted out and scheduled a Luai.  It is hard to do everything you want in only a day.  So across the island and up the mountain we went.

Dianne and a view of the crater.

Panoramic view of the crater.

After viewing the crater we headed back to our ship via a narrow road along the coast.  It was a beautiful drive but not much fun when another car was coming in the opposite direction.  Well, at least, we weren't pulling the 5th wheel!!!

On our drive we saw how the locals live.

Another Coastal view.
There are a lot of Banyon Trees in Hawaii.  This one is in Lahaina, Maui.  The tree branches out and the limbs branch out and start another part of the tree.  If you watched LOST they showed them several times.

Beach in Kona

Greek Captain David enjoying the view in Kona..

KAMEHAMEHA THE GREAT

There are two statues of Kamehameha the Great.  This one is on Hilo and the other is in Honolulu.  We also saw that one.  Dianne watches Hawaii 5 O and wanted to see the statue.  It sure is a LOT bigger on TV.  We did not see Steve McGarrett either!!
Beautiful Orchids.  Small orchids were past out to the ladies to put behind their ear.  Right ear you were single, left ear you were taken, both ears taken but still looking!!!

David at Mauna Loa Macademia Nut Factory.  They have over 250,000 trees and they give FREE samples.
This is the best picture we got of the Volcano.  Hilo has a lot of rain and today was a rainy day.
Dianne entering the Lava Tubes.

We made Kukui Nut Leis

Hula lessons!!!
We played cards in the afternoon.  Dianne and Jim.
